UPKO eyes six seats for Sabah polls, for now

Pakatan Harapan’s Sabah based component party, UPKO has identified six seats where it wants to contest in the upcoming Sabah state election.

It is confirmed that party president Datuk Ewon Benedick would defend Kadamaian.

Yesterday two seats in Tuaran was also named – Tamparuli and Kiulu.

In Tenom, the party wants to contest Melalap.

In Keningau, UPKO wants Bingkor.

Another seat that UPKO is keen to take on so far is Moyog in Penampang.

All the seats mentioned above are Kadazan Dusun Murut majority seats.

Based on the present incumbency, UPKO would be logging heads with PBS in Tamparuli and Kiulu. PBS is a component of GRS and GRS has agreed to be a coalition partner of Pakatan.

It has a better chance of contesting in Bingkor since the seat is held by STAR and the party has quit from GRS.

The balance two seats – Melalap and Moyog are held by state opposition – Warisan.

More seats would be named by UPKO once the seats have been finalised.
