Plan of Action 2026-2030 to shape ecosystem for ASEAN – Republic of Korea

With ASEAN-Korea trade exceeding USD200 billion, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes that the newly adopted Plan of Action would provide a roadmap for closer ties in trade and diplomacy.

“The newly adopted Plan of Action 2026-2030 provides a valuable roadmap. Its true worth lies in how we utilise it to navigate the next five years.

“By combining ASEAN’s growth potential with the Republic of Korea’s strengths, we can shape an ecosystem that creates new opportunities, thus, fostering inclusive growth, open markets, and stable supply chains,” said Anwar in his opening remarks at the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit.

Republic of Korea President Lee Jae Myung was also present.

Anwar noted that ASEAN offered a market of over 600 million people with in diverse sectors. Korea on the other hand offered innovation, technology and creative ambition.

With a comprehensive strategic partnership as pillars for Korea – ASEAN partnership, Anwar hopes this partnership can shape a conducive ecosystem for new opportunities.

“By combining ASEAN’s growth potential with the Republic of Korea’s strengths, we can shape an ecosystem that creates
new opportunities, thus, fostering inclusive growth, open markets, and stable supply chains.

“To drive this progress, we must develop human capital that is future-ready to prepare our peoples to lead change, to become innovators, entrepreneurs and builders of shared prosperity.”

The ASEAN – Republic of Korea summit is part of major summits in the 47th ASEAN Summit.

The 47th ASEAN Summit is a three day event that would end tomorrow.
