Why multiple entrance pathways into public universities are maintained, Fadhlina explains

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek defended the multiple entrance pathways into public universities as each of it has its own study structure and curriculum that meets the needs of various students.

“Hence there is a different assessment approach in line with the objectives and goals of the program,” she told V Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) in a Dewan Rakyat written reply.

“The proposal for a standardised public examination has the potentials to smoothen the entry system into public higher education system.

“However its implementation needs to be considered in detail as it involves various ministries. study structures and a different assessment method.

“Hence any necessary change needs to go through an in depth study and a wholesome assessment so that it remains in line with the Education Ministry’s commitment to provide fair and quality access of education to all students.”

Students can gain access into public universities via STPM, STPM, Asasi and matriculation programmes.
