Is PN fully represented, prepared to return to Putrajaya?

Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin claimed yesterday that the federal opposition coalition is stronger, fully represented and ready to return to power in Putrajaya in the 16th General Election.

“PN is now fully represented, and more people are joining us every day. This shows growing public support and gives us the confidence to face the 16th general election and help PN return to Putrajaya,” he said at the Deepavali open house of Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP).

MIPP is a PN component.

One needs to take Mahiaddin’s claim with a pinch of salt.

PN is made up of Bersatu, Pas, MIPP and Gerakan.

Here is my first point of contention.

Is PN really prepared when Bersatu is facing a leadership crisis? How can a coalition claim to be prepared when a key party is battling through crisis?

The party appears to be beaten and bruised since it involves the calls for Mahiaddin to be replaced by deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

The majority of MPs from Bersatu are also against Bersatu’s prime minister candidate, Mahiaddin. That is 19 out of 25.

Second, there are no non-Malay federal representatives from Peninsular Malaysia in the current line-up.

So how can PN claim to be fully representing a multiracial Malaysia.

Third, despite having MIPP and Gerakan, Bersatu and Pas leaders have made statements offensive to the non – Malay communities.

It also put MIPP and Gerakan in bad light since both have played the role of silent partners.
