DAP names candidates for Sabah state election, 50% female candidates

DAP secretary general Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced the party’s candidates for the upcoming 17th Sabah state election today in Kota Kinabalu with 50% candidates being women.

He announced that DAP will be fielding candidates in eight seats.

“We will contest 8 seats compared to 7 previously. 4 are female candidates.

“Of the eight, five are below 40 years old.

“The average age of the candidates are 39 years old because we believe in giving opportunities to the young.

The candidates are:

N69 Sri Tanjong Philip Yap Wei Li
N55 Elopura Vivian Wong
N56 Tanjung Papat Tang Szu Ching
N25 Kapayan Jannie Lasimbang
N21 Luyang Chan Loong Wei
N22 Tanjung Aru Datuk Chan Foong Hin
N19 Likas Phoong Jin Zhe

Loke said that another seat is in the interior of Sabah still in negotiation. The seat was not named but he assured that candidate would be a female.

Of the seven named so far, Vivian Wong is also Sandakan MP.

Datuk Chan Foong Hin’s mission is to defeat Warisan’s Junz Wong, formerly of the DAP.

Phoong Jin Zhe is Sabah DAP chairman.
