Mahiaddin’s High Court trial to be heard from March onwards
Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin’s case will be heard by the High Court in March.
Justice Noor Ruwena Nurdin fixed 29 days from March to August for the trial.
The dates are March 9 to 11; April 13, 16, 28 and 29; May 25 and 26; July 6 to 10, 13 to 17, 27 to 29; and Aug 17 to 21, 26, and 27.
Case management would be on Nov 27. Application for a temporary release of his passport would be heard on Nov 18.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin confirmed that there are about 30 prosecution witnesses.
Mahiaddin’s defence team is lead by Chetan Jethwani.
The 78-year-old former prime minister is accused of four counts of abuse of power where he allegedly solicited RM232.5 million in bribes from one individual and three companies.
He allegedly committed the offences at the Prime Minister’s Office between March 1, 2020 and Aug 20, 2021.
Mahiaddin who is also Pagoh MP also faces three charges related to RM200 million in funds allegedly received from Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd and deposited in his party’s account.
He allegedly committed at AmBank in Petaling Jaya and CIMB Bank Jalan Stesen Sentral, between Feb 25, 2021 and July 8, 2022.
