Only 5.5% in the police force are non-Bumiputera

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah revealed that the police force is only made up of 5.5% non- Bumiputeras during the oral question session in the Dewan Rakyat.

“As of 31st August, there 136,503 officers and staff in the police force. From this figure, 7,581 of them or 5.55% are non-Bumiputeras,” said Shamsul.

He clarified that there is no quotas to hire non-Bumiputera into the force.

“There is no quota. It is based on merit, health status, physical assessment and academic qualification

“We do allow some leeway for non-Bumiputera application in terms of their physical assessment and academic qualification,” he said in response to V Ganabatirau (PH-Klang).

“We also have done engagements at schools, higher education institutions. It allows us to operate without jeopardising the integrity of the police force.”

He also revealed the number of non-Bumiputera workforce in the other uniformed bodies under the Home Ministry

Of the 10,914 Immigration staff, there are 593 non-Bumiputeras.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency has 4913 staff of which 103 are non-Bumiputeras.

There are 440 non Bumiputera Prison Department staff out of a total of 16,193 staff.
