Open to meet BN but we will leave, says MIC
MIC is open to meet the BN leadership but it is also firm in its decision to BN, said party president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran.
He said the move to quit BN was a necessary step for MIC’s political survival.
“What we are doing is for the future of the party because we see that MIC is not being given space,” he said, Sinar Harian reported.
“The decision made by delegates is not out of anger but for the future of the party.”
He said this in response to BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan’s call for a meeting with MIC post Sabah elections.
“We can meet anytime. Everyone needs to understand that BN or Umno and MIC are not enemies,” he said.
The resolution to quit BN was passed by MIC delegates at their 79th annual general meeting on Wednesday.
They have however left the timing and strategy to the party leadership.
