Up to 300 teachers have received their placements in Tamil schools nationwide
A total of 300 teachers have been placed in Tamil schools nationwide since Nov 17.
“The rate for teachers in Tamil schools would reach 99.8% if all the new teachers report for duty within 30 days since their placement dates,” said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek in a written reply in Dewan Rakyat.
“Tamil school teachers output analysis for the period of 2025 to 2030 indicate that a total of 1,417 teachers would be produced. Of this figure, 1,273 are from Teaching First Degree Program (PISMP) and the balance 144 are via Education Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PDPP).”
She said this in response to a question from V Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) who asked about the ministry’s plans to address teacher shortages in Tamil schools and the number of trainee teachers who would be placed in Tamil schools this year and in the coming years.
She added that the permanent teachers intake are conducted twice a year.
Education Services Commission allows all year round applications for intakes and placements.
A specialised path via Graduate Educate Diploma and PDPP allow graduates without education background to join the teaching profession.
