IGP taken to task over PDRM’s failure in tracing Riduan

Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail was taken to task over Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) failure and for continuing its speculation regarding the whereabouts of Muhammad Riduan Abdullah.

“After 16 years of broken promises the police cannot continue asking the public not to speculate when speculation is all they themselves have offered,” said M Indira Gandhi’s legal counsel, Rajesh Nagarajan in a statement.

“Indira Gandhi and her children have been failed repeatedly. It is time for PDRM to stop issuing excuses and start producing results.”

Khalid had speculated that “someone else may have used Riduan’s identity to gain government aid.

“Equally concerning is the claim of a special travel restriction which contradicted Immigration records that showed no such alert exists.”

He further pointed out that the Ipoh High Court had to instruct PDRM to widen their investigation beyond a single state.

“This confirms what we have long said: The investigation has been narrow, ineffective and directionless.

Riduan, formerly known as Pathmathan Krishnan, Indira’s ex-husband, had converted to Islam and unilaterally converted his children.

He also escaped with his youngest daughter, Prasana Diksa in 2009 when Prasana was 11 months old.
