Only three Tamil primary schools, nationwide, have dilapidated buildings
Out of the 528 Tamil primary schools in Malaysia only three are under dilapidated building category, revealed Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
“The Ministry has approved replacement building construction for SJKT Dengkil that was passed under the Second Rolling Plan 2022 of the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“Application to rebuild a dilapidated building and an additional building for SJKT Gopeng has been approved under the First Rolling Plan 2026, 13th Malaysia Plan.”
She did not name the third school but went on to mention the number of schools by state.
Perak has the highest with 134 schools followed by Selangor (99), Johor (71), Negeri Sembilan (61) and Kedah (60).
Pahang has 37, Penang (28), Melaka (21), and Kuala Lumpur, 15.
Kelantan and Perlis has one Tamil school each.
As for Tamil school development projects, nine projects have been approved since the 10th Malaysia Plan until the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“As of Sept 29 2025, six have been completed, two are underway and one have been postponed,” she said.
