Zahid gives the ultimatum though MIC reached the Rubicon
Despite reaching the Rubicon during the MIC AGM, it is now BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who called the shots.
He stressed that the party must decide or risk getting the boot out of the BN coalition.
“A certain party had decided at their annual general meeting that they would leave it to their leadership (to decide) whether they want to remain in BN or not, but they do not have a decision.
“I say, if they do not have a decision, we will decide for them,” he said in his opening address at Makkal Sakti’s 17th annual general assembly in Penang.
Zahid confirmed that he was referring to the MIC and pointed out that the party’s inquiry letter to the opposition coalition is a sign of shifted loyalty.
“We don’t want a situation where one thing is said in the morning, then something else in the afternoon, and another thing tomorrow,” he said.
Yesterday he confirmed that MIC’s status would be discussed at the BN supreme council meeting next year.
MIC delegates have already voted for the party to part ways from BN. However it is the party’s central working committee that would ultimately chart its path.
The party is supposed to be determining its path during a CWC meeting that is supposed to take place this month but the meeting has not been scheduled.
This has also caused a lot disgruntlement among its grassroot members.
“The party under the late Palanivel was described as an eclipse. Under Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran it is a chaotic weather,” said one member who wished to remain anonymous.
