Urimai backs Mahiaddin in Bersatu-Pas spat

Urimai chief P Ramasamy has thrown his support to Bersatu’s Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin in the current spat within the federal opposition bloc, Perikatan Nasional (PN).

He also highlighted the role that Bersatu played for PN and non-Malay voters.

“I do not think there is anyone in PAS who can match the experience and national exposure of Muhyiddin, a long-time federal minister and former prime minister.

“There was certainly quick thinking on the part of Muhyiddin in jettisoning the idea of MN’s revival by resigning as chairman of PN.

“While there are claims that Muhyiddin’s resignation has strengthened PN, it is unquestionable that his departure has left a void in the opposition.

“How PAS and Bersatu leaders are going to heal the rift remains uncertain,” Ramasamy said in a Facebook post

He also highlighted that Bersatu have been playing the role for PN and the non-Malay vote bloc.

“The non-Malays given the extreme view of PAS are more comfortable with the Bersatu leaders like Muhyiddin and Azmin.

Datuk Seri Azmin Ali who quit as PN secretary general is also Selangor Bersatu chief.

“Now with both these leaders out of PN, there might be difficulty in establishing ties with the non-Malays in the country.

He also reminded Bersatu to continue the engagement via Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat.
