Recognise rights of Chinese and Indians, Urimai’s Ramasamy dares Pas
Urimai’s P Ramasamy challenged Pas to create and sustain national unity by recognising the fundamental rights of Chinese and Indians.
“No political party or coalition that is serious about providing leadership to the nation can afford to ignore non-Malays.
“The real challenge for Pas is not merely the forging of Malay-Muslim unity, but how to create and sustain national unity by recognising the fundamental rights of Chinese and Indians.
“Only through the broader umbrella of national unity can the opposition, such as Perikatan Nasional (PN), aspire to offer a credible alternative government.
“Of course, Pas must be cautious not to project a false version of multi-racial unity, as exemplified by the experiences of the DAP and PKR.”
He also stressed that while Pas has a very strong Malay support, claimed at 70%, the party is lacking support from the non-Malay communities.
Urimai is not part of PN but it is part of Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat – the brainchild of Bersatu president Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin encompassing opposition parties which is not part of PN.
PN’s Indian component – the MIPP has maintained a silence stance on this issue.
