Durian Tunggal police shootout: Lawyers, family members make five demands
Lawyers and family members of the deceased in the Durian Tunggal police shootout case today made five demands via a memorandum that was handed over to Bukit Aman. One of their key demands is the double standards in adhering to police standard operating procedure (SOP).
“Despite classifying the killing under section 302 for murder there is no remand. No one is charged. This contradicts the police SOP. Why is there double standards?” questioned lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan.
He also questioned the police for placing those suspected to be involved in the killing of the three in Durian Tunggal on inactive duty.
“Why is there no suspension? We demand that all of them are arrested.
“They all must be removed – suspended or transfered out,” he added.
He also singled out Melaka chief police officer Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar for interfering in the investigations and making statements.
“The Melaka CPO keeps issuing statements that interfere into the investigations. It is a mystery to us on who is actually investigating the case. Suspend the CPO.
Rajesh also pointed out that there are proof of evidence tampering.
KM224 where the crime allegedly took place was not in Durian Tunggal but it was in Negeri Sembilan, he pointed out.
“We want all statements of the Melaka CPO investigated.”
The last demand in the memorandum is a call to investigate the false statements in official reports stated by the police since the evidence in the form of audio recording differs from the police version of what transpired.
The demands for a transparent probe was made 40 days since the three men were shot, execution style.
