Zahid Hamidi to MCA, MIC: Stop sulking, remain in BN

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told his BN components – MCA and MIC – to stop sulking and remain in BN coalition.

He added BN had to join the unity government in the name of national interest.

That was among the issues that led to the current strained ties with the two parties.

“It has reached a point where some have decided to leave the coalition, while others have sulked and considered going elsewhere,” he said in his speech at the opening of the 79th Umno General Assembly in the presence of MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

“Let us not go there (leave BN). Let us embrace one another. Sulking for a while is fine, but please do not continue sulking.

“We are tired of persuading. Come back here and sit in the ‘big’ house. We are comrades in BN.”

Saravanan had recently confirmed that MIC would make its final decision in February.

MCA had passed a resolution to quit BN as it is against working with the DAP in the next general election.
