This is why Teoh Beng Hock’s death remains classified as NFA

Teoh Beng Hock’s death has been classified as No Further Action (NFA) by the Attorney General due to lack of evidence.

“The main legal basis for this decision is due to present evidence being insufficient to prosecute any individuals in the court on the basis of beyond reasonable doubt,” said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Even though a thorough investigation was carried out, elements to link certain individuals to a specific criminal act could not be fulfilled using existing evidence,” he added.

He said this in his written reply to Chow Yu Hui (PH-Raub) who asked for the reasons and legal basis that led to Teoh’s death being classified as NFA.

On a related question, Saifuddin said the investigation report cannot be made accessible to the public.

The late Teoh who was an aide to then Selangor exco Ean Yong Hian Wah was found dead at the Selangor MACC headquarters on July 16, 2009 after he went there to record his statement.
