Now Zakat Selangor speaks, RM230 million scandal not linked to LZS

Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) has denied any connection to the alleged embezzlement of approximately RM230 million in zakat funds, stressing that the case is unrelated to the institution or its management.

Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Khaidzir Shahari said, Zakat Selangor operates as the official zakat institution of the State of Selangor under the supervision of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council and is subject to the provisions of the law and a comprehensive governance, regulatory and balance system.

The management of zakat funds also goes through various layers of audit and monitoring, including internal audits, external audits and reviews by authorized parties to ensure that each zakat fund is managed in an orderly and controlled manner.

“In this regard, Zakat Selangor maintains a firm stance against any form of misuse of zakat funds and ensures that zakat fund management is implemented in accordance with the established governance framework.

“The public is advised to refer to the official Selangor Zakat channel to obtain accurate information and pay zakat through the official platform at www.zakatselangor.com.my,” he said.

At the same time, all parties are reminded not to spread false information regarding this matter as it can cause confusion and affect public confidence in the zakat institution.
