Pas to use own logo in Johor polls after severing ties with Bersatu

Pas will contest the upcoming Johor state election using its own logo, according to Johor Pas commissioner Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed.

The move comes after the party ending its political cooperation with Bersatu.

He said the party was exploring electoral cooperation with several political parties following its decision to sever ties with Bersatu, but any collaboration would likely be in the form of an electoral pact rather than a formal coalition.

Under such an arrangement, each party would retain and contest under its own logo.

“Pas may use our logo, while the other parties will use their respective logos. Given the time constraints, it is not practical to establish a formal coalition at this stage,” he told reporters during a press conference last night.

Mahfodz said Johor Pad fully supported the decision made by the party’s central leadership to end its political relationship with Bersatu and would abide by any direction issued by the party headquarters.

He stressed that Pas would not contest the state election on its own, reiterating that the party was actively pursuing cooperation with several like-minded parties through an electoral understanding aimed at avoiding clashes in selected constituencies.

He said the parties, which share similar political goals, are Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra), Parti Berjasa Malaysia (Berjasa) and Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional (Iman).

“This is a temporary political alliance as an official coalition would take up time and will not be registered in time for the Johor polls,” he added.
