MCA in denial over its subservient role in BN, says Sim Tze Tzin

MCA remains in denial about its subservient position in Barisan Nasional (BN), with Umno increasingly holding the upper hand in the coalition, said PKR president political secretary, Sim Tze Tzin.

In a statement, Sim said the recent exchange between MCA and Umno highlighted the position of MCA, led by Wee Ka Siong, within the coalition.

He said Umno was eager to work with its former rival Pas, leaving MCA and MIC as minor parties whose views could be disregarded.

Sim said the original BN was built on consensus and mutual respect among its component parties, but the current situation showed that Umno held all the cards.

He said MCA and MIC were expected to kowtow to Umno because they had no other choice.

Sim also highlighted the contrast between BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s statement that “everything is positive” within the coalition and Wee’s position that MCA had yet to make a final decision.

The remarks, Sim said, showed that the situation within BN was far from the positive picture portrayed by Zahid.
