Don’t drag Anwar, Ramanan into MIC-Umno feud, PKR warns

PKR’s Bandar Tun Razak vice chairman Jonathan Vela has taken Federal Territories MIC to task for dragging his party vice chairman, Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan into the ongoing MIC-Umno feud.

“If you wish to leave your own political family, that is your internal matter with UMNO. But never, under any circumstances, touch the leadership of PKR or the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PMX),” said Jonathan who is also a special aide to the prime minister’s political secretary.

“Ramanan has been entrusted to take care Indian community affairs including temples and Tamil schools due to his leadership that delivers the best service.”

Federal Territories MIC chief S Rajah recently joined the growing calls to quit BN.

Among the reasons for putting forth the resolution is because Anwar entrusted Ramanan to look into the affairs of the Indian community.

He further said that Anwar should have discussed the matter with BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and given the role to the MIC.

Jonathan told Rajah to resolve intra-BN issues without dragging Anwar and PKR into the fray.

“Let us be clear once again: do not touch our leadership. We have never attacked your leadership, and we urge you to resolve your issues with Zahid instead of using PKR or PMX as your scapegoat.

“This is not about which party manages the community, but about trust and capability.

“The history of MIC is respected, but the Indian community seeks a future, not just memories.

“The appointment of Ramanan is for the people, not for any party.

“The courage, transparency, and results-oriented leadership he demonstrates are exactly what the Indian community needs today,” he said in a statement.
