MIC to determine its path independently
MIC would decide its future path without waiting for its fellow BN component – MCA, said party secretary general S Ananthan.
MIC is a matured independent party. We don’t need advice from others or make a joint decision with the MCA,” he said, reported Malaysiakini.
“The decision made by the party leadership will be in the interest of the Indian community and Malaysians as a whole,” he added.
He said this when asked whether they would determine their future with MCA.
MIC has been vocal in voicing their dissatisfaction against Umno and BN chief, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Four MIC state liaisons have passed resolutions to quit BN.
Ananthan said that MIC is committed to cooperate with all parties within the unity government but it must be based on the principle of mutual respect.
“We respect MCA as a partner in BN but MIC has its own identity and agenda which will be prioritised.”
MIC is part of the unity government by virtue of it being in BN.
It has only one MP – Datuk M Saravanan who is also party deputy president.
