Penang Pas ulama delegate gets a verbal lashing from Gerakan president
Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau gave a Pas ulama delegate a verbal lashing for questioning his capability as Penang PN chairman.
Lau pointed out that Gerakan actively played a check and balance role to the DAP led state government even though it held no seats in the state assembly.
“Gerakan has regularly issued statements on issues affecting the people and forced a response from state leaders, including Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the PAS muktamar.
“Gerakan helped Pas win seven seats during the 2023 Penang state elections too,” he added.
This is in reference to all seven state seats held by Pas. Another four are held by Bersatu.
The seven seats are the Malay majority seats of Penaga, Pinang Tunggal, Permatang Berangan, Sungai Dua, Permatang Pasir, Sungai Bakap and Pulau Betong.
Penang Pas ulama delegate Shafirul Rozani had called for Penang’s PN chapter to have a new leader.
Shafirul described Lau as a Ferrari owner who did not know how to drive it.
“We are all in the same boat. We should focus on winning the next general election, not quarrelling over positions,” Lau added.
