Media freedom: This is what differentiates Madani government from the previous ones

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching pointed out that the Madani government upholds media freedom unlike the previous government even when there are reports not favoring them.

“If the government calls up Malaysiakini and question them, I believe the Opposition would be criticising us for not upholding media freedom.

“Firstly Meta made a statement stating that there are no abnormal activities.

“We have to accept that.

“The Madani government’s stance that is often repeated by PMX is that we respect media freedom.

“So when there are articles that we disagree on, we state our disagreement, not call them to record a statement every single time,” Teo said this during the oral question time in response to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas).

Fadhli in his supplementary question pointed out that Malaysiakini had reported about 263 fake accounts that created a positive perception for the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on social media.

The PN lawmaker asked for the government to act against the news portal.
