MACC summons Tei, Sofia Rini
The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) summoned businessman Albert Tei and a lady known as Sofia Rini Buyong to be at its headquarters on Dec 1 to assist its probe involving Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s former senior political secretary, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
It deemed Sofia’s testimony as vital to their probe.
“Additionally, MACC has contacted Tei and requested that he also appear at the headquarters on the same date.
“MACC urges all parties to refrain from speculation regarding this case and to allow the agency to conduct a thorough and independent investigation,” it said.
Both Tei and Sofia featured in a now viralled video where Sofia claimed to be a proxy for Shamsul. She also claimed that Anwar authorised Tei to record discussions with several Sabah politicians.
In a video that went viral last night she denied being Shamsul’s proxy.
Tei meanwhile claimed that he spent RM629,000 on Shamsul.
