We inquired, MIC clarifies PN announcement
MIC clarified that it sent a letter of inquiry for more information regarding federal opposition bloc, Perikatan Nasional (PN), not an application letter.
“The letter focused on several issues, including the nature of the party’s potential membership, entry processes and MIC’s potential status as a PN component member,” said MIC secretary general Datuk S Ananthan, media reports
It was sent four days before MIC’s AGM in response to Pas leaders’ invitation to join the bloc.
“We need complete information before making a decision on the party’s direction. We want to determine if MIC will be automatically received, or if there are conditions that need to be met,” he said.
Ananthan’s clarification comes in the wake of PN chief Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin’s announcement that MIC had submitted an application to join the coalition.
MIC delegates have passed a resolution for the party to quit BN. They however added that the central working committee determine the party’s next step.
