We will tell PM he has not done enough if the people feels so

LIM GUAN ENG

Some people believe that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar has not done enough. We have heard the people’s voices and will take their views seriously. We will convey this feedback to the Prime Minister and urge the government to fulfil its promises as soon as possible — to do enough, and do it well!

If the Prime Minister does the right thing, we must speak fairly. If he does something wrong or not enough, we also have the responsibility to speak up. This is a fundamental principle of being an elected representative.

I hope that by the end of the year, the Prime Minister can announce good news and not disappoint the support and trust given to Pakatan Harapan by non-Malays. Non-Malays must feel that their votes were not wasted.

Among the most basic needs is to increase allocations for non-Malays, especially for schools and temples, so that our education and various religions can develop better.

I said this in my speech when I attended the 38th anniversary celebration of the Bukit Mertajam Four-Storey Ji Gong Temple recently. I also announced an allocation for the temple as activity funds.

At the event, I also mentioned that the UTC at Penang Sentral, which opened in November, is only the beginning of Batu Kawan’s major journey towards becoming an international small city.

Upcoming projects include the RM3 billion Jalan Rozhan–Sungai Lye elevated highway, the RM650 million Bukit Mertajam sewerage system, the RM161 million Sungai Juru flood mitigation project in Butterworth, and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) station to be activated at Penang Sentral in 2031, which will elevate Penang to an international-standard small city.

I will work hard to promote development in the Bagan constituency. Last year, Bagan successfully secured approval from the federal government for RM8 billion worth of development plans, which I believe will propel Butterworth’s growth and take it to greater heights.
