Lead counsel in Durian Tunggal police shootout case receives death threat via media’s FB account
Rajesh Nagarajan, the lead counsel in the Durian Tunggal police shootout case ,revealed that there was a death threat posted online against him on Malaysiakini’s Facebook account.
“The person wants to go to my house and kill my family. Someone wants to silence and intimidate me.
“I will not be intimidated. Police must be investigate and get to the root of the matter,” said Rajesh who was accompanied by two of his lawyers, Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal and Mahajoth Singh.
He revealed this after lodging a police report at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters this evening.
The threatening message has been deleted.
The individual who posed the death threat went by the name Zaheri Mohsin.
Rajesh pointed out that the timing of the death threat is of suspect since he is handling the Durian Tunggal police shootout case against the police.
He also brushed off Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for a transparent probe as one that is typical of a politician’s talk.
“It is typical politician’s statement. Does that mean other investigations are not transparent?”
He added that he would be accompanying the shootout victim’s family to handover evidence in Bukit Aman tomorrow at 10.30am.
It has been 48 hours since we revealed the evidence. The police have failed to contact the lawyers or family members of victims.
“They never came for evidence so we are giving the audio recording. Death threats will not prevent me to Bukit Aman with the victims’ family.”
In a related development Rajesh also took Bukit Aman CID chief CP Datuk M Kumar to task for investigating the victims under section 307 of the Penal Code.
Section 307 is the legal provision for attempted murder.
“Why investigate dead people? You are suppose to probe under section 302 on who murdered the victims.”
Sachpreetraj Singh called Kumar’s probe a farce.
