AI Madani bridges language divide to relay government communication

A new artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to democratize access to public policy information was launched this week, aiming to solve the challenge of information fragmentation in Malaysia’s multi-lingual media landscape.

The platform, AI Madani (www.aimadani.com), serves as a centralized digital aggregator that tracks, organizes, and translates government news.

By leveraging AI algorithms, the site compiles updates from English, Bahasa Melayu, Chinese, and Tamil sources offering a unified dashboard of ministerial activities and national initiatives.

The platform is specifically calibrated to monitor the “Malaysia Madani” agenda, the national policy framework introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Rooted in an acronym that stands for Sustainability, Care and Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Prosperity, and Trust, the Madani concept emphasizes good governance and sustainable development as the strategic pillars for the country’s progress and institutional reform.

In a nation as diverse as Malaysia, government announcements are often disseminated through vernacular media channels, creating “information bubbles” where specific communities may miss policy updates based on the language they speak.

AI Madani addresses this by sweeping the entire media spectrum to provide a holistic view of the administration’s progress, regardless of the source language.

“We believe that a progressive Malaysia requires an informed citizenry,” said Sungai Sungai PKR division chief Novinthen Krishnan who is also the founder of AI Madani.

“For too long, crucial updates have been trapped in linguistic silos. Our goal is to break these barriers, ensuring that a concern raised in the Chinese community reaches policymakers, and a policy announced in Bahasa Melayu is accessible to English or Tamil speakers in real-time.”

Key features of the platform include:

Cross-Language Aggregation: Simultaneous tracking of news across Malaysia’s four major languages across 20 over media publications.

Ministerial Tracking: A comprehensive database monitoring the activities and announcements of over 26 key government officials.

Centralized Dashboard: A streamlined interface that curates government announcements, reducing the need for citizens to navigate multiple news outlets.

The launch of AI Madani marks a significant step in the application of civic technology within Southeast Asia, utilizing automation to enhance transparency and engagement with the Prime Minister’s national agenda.

The platform is currently live and accessible to the public.
