Closer ties at federal – state government vital in developing agriculture sector

Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Chan Foong Hin has called for close ties between the federal and state governments in jointly developing the agriculture industry in Malaysia.

“Joint development in the agriculture industry begins with close ties between the federal and state governments that is supported by strong relations between the leadership and policy makers at both levels,” he said.

Chan said this after receiving a courtesy visit from Sabah’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar and the latter’s entourage at the Wisma Tani yesterday.

“I am confident this meeting would not only enhance our mutual understanding but also open up spaces towards a more positive direction and systematic strategic cooperation between Sabah and the federal governments,” Chan added.
