327 gunned down by the police, no police personnel charged

In the past decade, since 2015 until 2025 a total of 327 criminals who were involved in 193 cases were shot dead.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that no police personnel were charged for gunning them down.

The lowest number of cases was recorded in 2023 and the highest, 32 was in 2016.

The breakdown according to the year is as follows:

2015 21 cases
2016: 32 cases
2017: 23 cases
2018: 26 cases
2019: 16 cases
2020: 8 cases
2021: 11 cases
2022: 6 cases
2023: 5 cases
2024: 25 cases
2025: 20 cases

Nationality wise Malaysians topped the list at 172 and the least was one Thai national.

Among Malaysians, Indians topped the list with 78 shot dead. The Malays come in second with 43, followed by the Chinese, 40. A total of 11 bumiputeras have all been shot dead.
