Don’t you dare interfere on matters related to Hindu temples in Penang, senator warns

Senator A Lingeshwaran has warned certain individuals against those who are stoking racial sentiments and interfering in matters related to Hindu temples in Penang.

“I recently saw a viralled video that featured the temple in Bukit Mertajam Hospital by Tamim Dahri. The temple has been around since before independence.

“Don’t stoke up racial sentiments. Don’t interfere on matters of Hindu temples in Penang.

“We know how to resolve these issues,” said Lingeshwaran while debating the Royal Address in Dewan Negara.

He said this in reference to Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, Bagan Dalam state assemblyman, Penang and Penang Exco S Sundarajoo and himself.

All of them are part of the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB).

Lingeshwaran also named a TikTok influencer known as Cikgu Chandra who has been stoking up racial sentiments on issues related to temples.

In a related matter, the lawmaker also suggested that a national Hindu endowment board be established under the National Unity Ministry at the federal level.

“Include all heritage temples in it,” he said.

His suggestion is based on the fact that Penang has PHEB.
