JUST IN Malaysian among eight killed in helicopter crash
Authorities have confirmed that one Malaysian was among eight people killed after a helicopter crashed in a dense forest on Indonesia’s Borneo island.
According to AFP, the Airbus helicopter, operated by local company Matthew Air Nusantara, lost contact with air traffic control about five minutes after taking off from West Kalimantan province on Thursday morning.
It was on its way to another palm oil plantation in the Kubu Raya district.
Searchers later located the wreckage and recovered the bodies of the two crew members and six passengers in the dense forests in Sekadau district, according to the National Search and Rescue Agency and the Transportation Ministry.
All eight on board were men and one was a Malaysian national.
Two of the victims were crew members, while the remaining six were passengers.
