Vijay’s win reflects growing rejection of caste and religious politics, says AMANAH

AMANAH congratulates C Joseph Vijay and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on their victory in the Tamil Nadu state elections and his subsequent appointment as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

According to AMANAH Secretary-General, Faiz Fadzil, the victory reflects a significant shift in public sentiment, particularly among the younger generation, who are increasingly drawn towards the principles of justice, inclusivity and progressive governance that foster unity and social harmony.

“It also signals a growing rejection of identity politics, despite the longstanding influence of money, caste and religious considerations in Indian politics,” he said in a statement today.

AMANAH expressed hope that this development would inspire a similar transformation among the youth in Malaysia, encouraging greater support for struggles rooted in values such as social justice, progressiveness, integrity and good governance.

He said, in line with the spirit of rahmatan lil ‘alamin, efforts to strengthen national unity while respecting the rights and dignity of all communities, whether Malay or otherwise, must continue to be upheld by all parties.

He also stressed that the success of Vijay and TVK demonstrates that voters are increasingly open to embracing new and young leaders to drive the nation forward.

“This serves as an important signal to all political parties, including AMANAH, to recognise and adapt to the growing demand for youthful leadership.

“The courage to provide greater opportunities for young leaders to contest in elections is a challenge to AMANAH towards renewal and political reform,” he said.
