Malaysia powers up semiconductor push with SemiconStart launch
Malaysia has begun implementing its National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) through the launch of SemiconStart Malaysia, an initiative aimed at strengthening innovation and developing more locally developed semiconductor companies.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the initiative demonstrates Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the capabilities, institutions, and ecosystem required to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global, technology-driven economy.
“Today marks an important transition from strategy to implementation. SemiconStart Malaysia represents a collective effort to strengthen pathways for innovation, commercialisation and technology development.
“This will also support Malaysia’s ambition to create more homegrown technologies, generate greater intellectual property and build globally competitive semiconductor companies,” he said at the launching event here today, according to NST.
SemiconStart Malaysia was identified under 2026 Budget as a strategic initiative to support semiconductor startups through mentorship, access to global funding and investment networks, semiconductor tools, prototyping opportunities and commercialisation support.
