Kumaresan urges Johor Indian voters to choose based on track record, support PH

Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan has urged Indian voters in Johor to judge candidates based on their track record, political stability and their ability to govern the state.

The PKR Central Leadership Council member said, since the Johor state election campaign began, MIC has spent more time attacking Pakatan Harapan (PH) instead of explaining what new plans it has for the Indian community.

According to him, MIC can no longer claim to be the only party representing the interests of the Indian community.

He said this was reflected in the party’s inconsistent stand after announcing its intention to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) and work with Perikatan Nasional (PN), before making a U-turn and returning to support BN.

“This clearly shows that their political strategy is more about the party’s survival than the interests of the Indian community.

“More disappointingly, MIC was willing to consider working with Perikatan Nasional simply because it was unhappy with its position in Barisan Nasional.

“This proves that principles and the people’s mandate can be set aside for political interests,” he said in a statement today.

Kumaresan therefore called on Indian voters to make the right decision by looking at each party’s track record, stressing that the future of the Indian community should not be decided by a party that frequently changes its stand based on political interests.

“On July 11, let us give our mandate to Pakatan Harapan for a stable, trustworthy government that truly works for all the people of Johor,” he said.
