Elections, appointments way up for non-Malays in AMANAH
If non-Malays win or are appointed, they will hold positions within the party, said AMANAH deputy president Senator Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.
“Of course appointment of any members in any position, of the party will be appointed two ways, either through the normal political system of election in the party, internal election.
“If they win the election of the party, then they would be promoted to such a position, or appointment.
“By appointment I mean is that we appointed them to be in the national level, for example, national committee, or maybe in the state,” he said in an exclusive interview.
He also said that AMANAH do have quite a significant number of non-Muslim, non-Malays joining the party because they believe in the value politics that AMANAH brings and upholds.
He also said that AMANAH currently has non-Malay representatives.
“If you asked me, at the moment I think, there are few states which have non-Muslim representatives, in the state executives, in Perak, in few areas like Parit Buntar, and of course, I think in Selangor,” he said.
“We have quite a significant number of non-Muslims, who are appointed and at the national level we have Mr Frankie from Selangor, whom we appointed to national committees,” he said.
Frankie Koh Eng Kee is the second Assistant Secretary for AMANAH Selangor. There are non-Malay, non Muslim representatives in AMANAH’s top leadership.
He said he hopes in the future, there will be more non-Malay and non-Muslims, joining the structures of the party.
