Real estate MD changing Malay reserve land status detained

A managing director of a real estate company was detained by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission to aid a probe on breaking up Malay reserved land plots that were later sold reregistered as non Malay land in Manjong, Setiawan, Perak yesterday.

It involves 650 hectares of land.

The 44 year old suspect allegedly does the above mentioned act and resells the land as residential lots.

A total of 317 land plots have been sold.

The arrest was made following the arrest of an ex deputy registrar from the Perak Land and Minerals Department last month.

A source said the suspect is alleged to have bribed government department staff to change the Malay reserve land status in Sitiawan, reported Berita Harian.
