Malaysia, Laos to strengthen ASEAN supply chain
Malaysia and Laos are looking into ways to strengthen ASEAN’s supply chain
Deputy minister of investment trade and industry Liew Chin Tong and his Lao counterpart Malaithong Kommasith discussed on ways to strengthen ASEAN’s supply chain.
“Minister Kommasith and I had a very candid discussion about the future of trade and ways to strengthen ASEAN supply chain in the midst of a potential global bifurcation of trade links.
“We also shared the concern that development must uplift ordinary people, and regional development must ensure that the latecomer states have a decent chance to catch up or leapfrog,” said Liew, via Facebook.
Liew paid a courtesy to Kommasith in Vientiane, Laos.
He also gave assurance that Malaysia will work very closely with Laos.
“Malaysia will work very closely with Laos as partners for development.”
Laos is currently holding the chair of ASEAN.
Malaysia would chair the regional organisation next year.
