Parallel pathway, BlackRock dominate MQT today

Parallel pathway to train more cardiothoracic surgeons and US based company BlackRock continues to dominate the spotlight in the Dewan Rakyat.

Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PN-Kuala Langat questions Health Minister Datuk Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad regarding the difference of specialist training programs in local universities compared to specialist training programs abroad (Parallel Pathway) generally and specifically in the field of cardiothoracic surgery.

Ahmad also asked the estimate cost spent for specialist training that is sponsored by the government.

Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) meanwhile asked Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz for the amount of investment made by BlackRock and companies linked to it in Malaysia, specifically the states.

He also wants to know the impact to the national economy if all the investments made BlackRock in the several last decades are withdrawn.

Both of the above questions will be raised during Ministers Question Time (MQT).

The oral question session would see Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (PN-Pagoh) asking Prime Minister on the status and the latest update on the formation of the legal documentation and special technical committee to study the legal suit that was taken up in lawyer Nik Elin’s case as well as the committee to scrutinise issues related to the Allah word.

Tan Hong Pin (PH-Bakri) asked Prime Minister to elaborate on reforms and improvisation efforts on the Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) so that it is on par and parallel to similar examinations at the international level.

CLP is the examination for foreign law university graduates that would allow them to practice in Malaysia.

The Dewan Rakyat session would also witness the tabling of amendments to Audit Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024 by the Minister in Prime Minister’s Department for the first reading.
