Penang is among the top five sustainable urban cities in the world
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming praised Penang as one of the top five sustainable urban cities in the world.
“Penang is one of the top five cities in the world recognized for sustainable urban development, having been honoured with the UN-HABITAT Shanghai Award last year.
“Additionally, Penang is undeniably a food paradise and one of the best tourism destinations globally,” he said via a Facebook post today.
Nga was accompanying China’s Housing and Urban-Rural Development Minister Ni Hong on a courtesy call with Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and a visit to the Penang Island City Council.
The Facebook post was accompanied by a video clip showing Nga introducing Malaysian fruits, including durians and rambutans, to Ni Hong.
Following the signing of the “Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Export of Fresh Durian from Malaysia” with China, Malaysia will begin exporting durians to China starting in August.
On June 19, Malaysia and China signed 14 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements. These agreements facilitate various initiatives, including the export of fresh Malaysian fruits to China.
