Why didn’t you ask Education Minister, Wee?
Ipoh Timor MP Howard Lee Chuan How questioned why MCA president Dr Wee Ka Siong did not address his numerous concerns regarding the matriculation programme directly to the Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek yesterday.
“President, what are you waiting for?
“When the matriculation issue was debated in Parliament, didn’t you ask the Education Minister directly?
“Yesterday, did you participate when seven MPs debated on the matriculation program?” Lee asked via a Facebook post.
He also asked if all students with 10’A’s were able to enter the matriculation program when MCA held the education ministerial position.
“Some SPM candidates applied for Asasi through Unit Pengambilan Universiti (UPU) and have already been accepted. Were you not aware of this?
“Think carefully before you answer. If you cannot answer, ask your assistant to secretly take a photo, then meet the Prime Minister and pretend to hand in a memorandum before answering.”
Wee has been asking a lot of questions regarding matriculation programs.
Earlier he questioned the fate of those who entered the matriculation programs in August when the program already started.
On June 30, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that students with 10 or more ‘A’s in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) could enter the matriculation program, regardless of their racial or socioeconomic background.
As a result, the education ministry has received numerous appeals for matriculation enrollment.
According to Fadhlina 4,165 students have received offers for the program, with 712 students still awaiting theirs.
On July 11, she announced that all SPM candidates who achieved 10‘A’s and are still awaiting acceptance into matriculation programs will secure placements by August.
