No leeway for DLP

Studying Mathematics and Science in the national language is a compulsory requirement in schools that implement the Dual Language Programme (DLP), the Dewan Rakyat was told.

“Schools that implement the DLP must ensure tequal opportunities are given to students to learn Mathematics and Science in either their mother tongue language or the national language. Schools must ensure that there is at least one class in each year or form is made up of class that learns using the national language effective from the current session.

“The DLP also depends on guidelines set up the achievement of Bahasa Melayu is vital in ensuring the implementation of DLP.

“It will ensure students improve their command BM as a national language and English.”

Chong Zhemin questioned whether the Education Ministry would provide some leeway to schools that would like to implement Dual Language Programme completely for the subjects of Mathematics and Science.
