Umno’s Puad Zarkashi dares Pas to contest in Nenggiri

Umno supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi dared Pas to field its candidate in the upcoming Nenggiri by-election.

“Pas ought to punish Bersatu for Azizi’s actions,” said Puad, in reference to Azizi Abu Naim who won the seat as Bersatu candidate during Kelantan state polls last year.

Azizi is also Gua Musang MP who is supporting the prime minister. He is among the six MPs from the opposition who backs Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

This led to Bersatu sacking him and the others from the party to trigger a by-election.

“Azizi should ask for compensation by reclaiming Nenggiri. Azizi remains Gua Musang MP though he contested on Pas logo.

Pas and Bersatu are PN coalition members. Bersatu candidates in Kelantan contested on Pas logos.

“All the by-elections are won by incumbent parties, in other words, the results are status quo.

“Let Nenggiri be the battlefield that determine who is stronger – Pas or Umno?

There have been calls from Pas to contest the seat. Pas top leadership however assured Bersatu that Nenggiri is for Bersatu to contest.

The Nenggiri by-election is scheduled to be held on August 17. Gua Musang Umno Youth chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani.
