Chow didn’t call for ties with Umno to be cut off
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that the report claiming he called for ties with Umno to be cut off is false.
“The statement in question was never made by Penang Chief Minister and Penang Pakatan Harapan chairman YAB Chow Kon Yeow,” said Chow’s Facebook page admin.
Recently a Facebook post titled “The Penang Chief Minister from DAP urges to sever ties with Umno.” was circulating online.
According to Chow’s Facebook post, the actual statement made is as follows:
“If there are parties that feel that the cooperation does not benefit, it is better for that cooperation not to continue.
“Actually, the cooperation within unity came after the decision of PRU15 to form the government. This agreement was reached because if you ask any party, they will say that the cooperation is specifically for the purpose of forming the government.
“Furthermore, each party has the autonomy to decide on the form of cooperation with anyone they choose.
“This was discussed and decided by each party. As discussed, every negative aspect has its positive counterpart.
“Each party needs to consider how they can add value to this cooperation. If they feel they cannot add value, perhaps that’s their perspective. If they believe they cannot add value, it’s better not to cooperate.”
He said this during last Sunday’s media session at the Book Launching Ceremony ‘Musings In George Town’.
