Penang’s tourism pamphlets available in multiple language, says Wong
Penang’s tourism pamphlets are available in multiple languages, said Penang state exco for tourism and creative economy Wong Hon Wai.
“My response is that not only is there content in the national language, but also in Arabic.
“The Arabic version by Penang Global Tourism was launched by me at the Arabian Travel Mart in May 2024. The Malay version has been available for a long time.
He said they also translate promotion materials into other languages to cater to the international market.
Recently controversy erupted when United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) secretary-general Satees Muniandy raised concerns about the “Experience Penang: The Diversity of Asia” promotional pamphlets in his social media account.
He questioned why these materials are not available in the national language or Tamil, arguing that this oversight fails to reflect Malaysia’s diversity.
