Fadhlina will clarify on alcohol company donating to schools

Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek will clarify the issue regarding an alcoholic beverage channelling donations to a Chinese vernacular school.

He confirmed that the matter was raised during the weekly cabinet meeting today.

“The education minister will answer. Please contact the Education Ministry,” he said during a post-cabinet press conference held at the Communications Ministry in Putrajaya today.

However, Fahmi did not divulge when the Education Ministry will clarify the matter.

“I will leave it to the Education Ministry. They have been told to answer this,” he added.

Yesterday Transport Ministry Anthony Loke said he would seek a cabinet review to revise the Education Ministry’s guidelines on schools receiving funds generated from companies selling tobacco and alcoholic beverages.

The current set of guidelines imposed by the Education Ministry forbids schools from receiving funds from such companies.
