DAP dares Gerakan to quit Kedah government

DAP’s sole representative in Kedah – Teh Swee Leong (PH-Kota Darulaman) dared Wong Chia Zhen (PN-Kulim) to withdraw support for Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

“Don’t just quarrel and be heard on social media but at the same time remain at the same table in the Kedah government led by Sanusi.

“Gerakan must show bravery, not waste time and resources to retain the party’s one and only exco seat in Kedah, if they feel their values are no longer aligned with PAS or PN,” said Teh in a statement yesterday.

“If a component partner in PN has called them to leave, why should they remain in an uncomfortable position?” he added.

Wong is Gerakan’s sole representative and Kedah state executive councillor in charge of human resources, Chinese, Indian, and Siamese affairs, and NGOs.

The call was made following Sanusi’s action in echoing Pas vice president Mohd AMar Nik Abdullah’s call for Gerakan to leave if it is not comfortable in the Perikatan Nasional coalition.

The difference cropped up when Gerakan defended donations by alcohol beverage companies to Chinese vernacular schools.

The Education Ministry has announced that while their guidelines stands, donations can still be made through Chinese school board of governors and it must not involve Muslims.
