Pahang police set to boost patrols to curb illegal durian Harvesting
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman announced that to stop illegal entry by individuals seeking to harvest durians from durian plantations owned by the Pahang Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPP), police will increase patrols and intensify operations.
“Ops Sekat is ongoing, and police will coordinate our enforcement with the other agencies to prevent people from setting foot on government land.
“We urge all quarters to respect the Court of Appeal’s decision last month,” he said, reported NST.
Yahaya stated that the police, in coordination with enforcement agencies such as the district and land office, the district forest office, and the elite team of the Pahang enforcement unit, have intensified monitoring efforts at the farms.
“Op Sekat,” launched on April 30, is a special operation aimed at curbing illegal durian farming in Raub.
The operation is conducted jointly with the forest department.
Recently three individuals were caught trying to steal durians at a plantation owned by PKPP.
The three individuals—two men and an Indonesian woman—were granted bail after their statements were taken.
They are being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass.
On July 19, the Court of Appeal rejected the application of 131 Musang King farmers from Raub, Pahang, preventing them from accessing their orchards to maintain and cultivate durians.
