Motion to refer Awang Hashim to RPC will be filed today – RSN Rayer

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) has confirmed that he would be filing a motion to refer Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) to the Rights and Privileges Committee for claiming that RM94 million cash was found by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) at the home of a former minister from the DAP.

“I will file a motion against Pendang by the end of today,” he told Harapan Daily.

Yesterday, Awang raised the ire of DAP lawmakers by making the claim. He also claimed that he was quoting the MACC.

The MACC however has denied the allegation made by Awang Hashim.

Earlier today Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) who is also DAP national chairman demanded Awang to repent for making a ‘sinful’ statement.

“Pendang (Awang) has made a sinful (haram) statement. He should repent for this defamatory and false statement, as the MACC has firmly denied this defamatory statement, which is a sin.

“Therefore, we urge the Dewan Rakyat speaker to take strict action against the PAS leader over this statement, which is slanderous and false.

“Otherwise, Parliament will be dragged into the mud of slander, which I feel will not benefit the country,” Lim said at a press conference in Parliament today.

For the record, MACC visited the residence of V Sivakumar (PH-Batu Gajah) for a probe but did not conduct a raid.

Sivakumar meanwhile describe Awang’s claim as an attempt to tarnish his (the former’s) reputation.

“This accusation is baseless and a political slander aimed at damaging my integrity and dignity, as well as the party I represent.

“The MACC’s statement clarifying this matter is much appreciated,” he said.
